Modem-router provided by Movistar. It’s a basic ADSL-modem with 3G-option and a possibility to share an external hard drive or a printer in your local network.
Unfortunately it seems there is a vulnerability in this device.
Movistar has few manuals in English on their website:
How to access the modem
There are actually two ways to access this router:
The first one with a basic interface which is quite limited and can be used for example to change the wireless configuration.
- Attach an Ethernet cable from one of the numbered Ethernet ports on the router to the Ethernet port on your computer.
- Open your Internet browser and enter “http://192.168.1.1” in the address bar. Press “Enter.”
On the left side you’ll see a Internet-figure glowing green when the connection established. If it’s red the connection is not established.
To modify Wifi security and password click the Wifi-figure and enter the password (1234).
You will be able to change your wireless network name (Nombre)
- Security (Nivel) should be at least WPA (preferably WPA2). DO NOT use WEP!
- Password (Clave) is password for the wireless network. It should have at least 8 letters or numbers combined.
- When finished making changes click “Aceptar”.
The other method gives you more possibilities to change the configuration.
- Attach an Ethernet cable from one of the numbered Ethernet ports on the router to the Ethernet port on your computer.
- Open your Internet browser and enter “http://192.168.1.1:8000” in the address bar. Press “Enter.”
- Enter the user name and password for the router. If you haven’t changed these settings previously username is: 1234 and password is: 1234.
Internet setup (if another provider than Movistar)
If you have a Movistar connection there’s no need to do any modifications because the Movistar configuration is already preinstalled.
You can use the Setup Wizard to setup your internet connection or the manual configuration
Setup -> Internet Setup
Configuration depends of your internet provider and you must have the necessary information to be able to use this modem. (More help here: Configuration data of Spanish broadband providers)
What you need to know is:
- Modulation mode of ADSL (usually automatic)
- VPI/VCI
- Connection protocol (Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, PPPoA)
- Encapsulation (VC-MUX, LLC)
- Username and password (usually only within PPPoE and PPPoA connections)
Wireless Network Setup
Advanced -> Wireless Setup
and then Manual Wireless Connection Setup on bottom of the screen.
If you want to change your wireless network name (SSID) then you have go through the setup wizard. Although I feel it’s easier to make the necessary modifications through the manual setup.
- Security should be at least WPA (preferably WPA2). DO NOT use WEP!
- WPA-TYPE should be PSK string (if not selected).
- PSK String is your password for the wireless network. It should have at least 8 letters or numbers combined.
I suggest you disable the WPS (Wifi Protected Setup) but it’s up to you. Some devices use PIN-number instead of the password to connect.
Change the default password
You should also change the default password to prevent anyone else accessing your modem.
Maintenance -> Administration
Remote access
Maintenance -> Administration
This device makes it possible for Movistar technicians access it remotely and re-configure it if you’re having troubles with your connection. If you disable this possibility it is likely that they are not able to help you but you can always reset the device or enable the remote connection.
If you’re sharing an external hard drive on your local network I suggest you disable access to it from outside your local network (Samba -> disable).
Status
This page tells you if the connection is working and your connection IP-addresses (blurred). You can also see if your USB-device is connected and working.
Statistics
Status -> Statistics
On this page you can see various statistics about your ADSL-line, for example how fast your connection is (Downstream).
Sharing your external hard drive on local network
Just plug a hard drive or an USB-memory to USB-port behind the device. Name the device so that you recognise it later on and Workgroup-name your computers are using. Usually this is WORKGROUP if you are using Windows as an operating system.
Advanced -> Network Tools -> Samba
You should be able to see and access the external device through your Network. There’s also a Homestation added and it is possible to access the external device similar way.
Reboot
This modem needs to be rebooted every time the configuration is changed and modem reboot can be done through
Maintenance -> System settings
Just click the Reboot-button and the device starts itself in a minute.

Hello,
thank you VERY VERY much for providing this information.
I just moved to Spain for a longer vacation. And I hate it when I am not able to work with every nuts and bolts of my hardware just because providers want to restrict you from it.
Password 1234… that saved my day!
Juergen
Unfortunately, with this Homestation router Movistar seems to have changed the passcode from 1234 to ???? And it does not work with Portal Alexandra. With the latter, I get no menu and no possibility to set up port forwarding or to change channel. I have called Movistar about this. They say the default password was changed so that clients would use only Portal Alexandra which doesn’t come up properly. Does anyone with a new Homestation router (after Dec 1, 2013) know a different access code?
Hi their, wondering if you got a reply on this topic as I am still having the same problem
Hi, it seems you both have Movistar Imagenio which means the router must be configurated on Portal Alejandra.. And then the default password does not work.
Unfortunately we don’t have Movistar Imagenio in use so we could test how configuration changes are made but I found some information on internet concerning similar problems.
How to access Alejandra:
https://www.movistar.es/atencion-cliente/soporte-tecnico/configuracion-router
First you have to add your landline number and then navigate to “Cambiar contraseña” section where you’ll made the password change.
I can not confirm this as I don’t have an access to Alejandra myself but hopefully this helps.
Although you’ll change the router password from Alejandra it might be that you can not access the router directly but all changes (Wifi password etc.) must be made on Portal Alejandra.

On username 1234 pw 12341234
I am trying to set up a web cam using NO-IP.
I THINK I have the port fowarding setup correctly to use port 4569
WWhen I connect using cruzada.hopto.org which is my NOIP account I see the modem configuration screen and can remotely manage it!
If I use cruzada.hopto.org:4569 I get nowhere.
What am I doing wrong?
Advice much appreciated!
Hah – useful as this was, we’ve eventually found out that this router has a SIP ALG which you CANNOT turn OFF via the GUI. I’m trying to find out if there’s a command line you can access. Otherwise, it’s stopping our client using VoIP altogether as the SIP ALG clashes with out required settings.
Hi Chris, were you able to get VOIP working for your client – I’m having the same problem re: ALG with one of our employees in Spain using an Ampa router. All the best.
I have a Movistar Home Station installed. I have purchased a Cisco SPA504G VOIP phone. I cannot get it working correctly with the router. The problem is I receive packets but cannot send packets (I hear people I call but they cannot hear me). Does anyone have a suggestion if I have missed some configuration or is the phone not compatible with the router.
Thanks
Steve
Hi Steve! You have added port forwarding on modem settings? VoIP usually uses port 5060 but that depends of your VoIP-provider.
Is it possible to create a guest account with the ASL-26555 router?
Thanks in anticipation
Hi Dave,
what do you mean by “Guest account”? Secondary wifi with different security key?
As I was only getting 0.8MB the Movistar shop suggested that I press “Reset” but now I have no Wifi connection at all?
Try to press the wifi-button behind the router for few seconds and that should enable the Wifi.
Thanks…I got back online yesterday having done just that, but still can’t find out how to increase the download speed from 0.8Mb, despite Movistar insisting that I should be achieving 2 to 3 MB. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Steve
Try changing the wirless channel and see if that helps.

Hi Steven, I had exactly the same problem. 0.8Mb for 3 weeks despite numerous calls to 1004.
Eventually an engineer was sent, he said that I was only contracted for 1Mb hence the 0.8
I am on Fusion, up to 10Mb but only 3 in our area.
He made a tel call and had it changed, reset router, now I have 2.56Mb which I had with my previous supplier.
Hope that helps,
Alan B
I also have a download speed of 0.8Mb and would love to know how to increase it please.
One more question – my wifi doesn’t cover much distance ( my previous tp-link router covered much further distance). As the aerials do not unscrew to allow a bigger aerial do you have any ideas how this signal can be strengthened please?
The solution here would be to purchase a wireless range extender that will increase the coverage of your wireless network. Also I’ve recently discovered that homeplugs are a great solution too. I use the TP-Link ones which provide both a wireless and an ethernet option and they have worked flawlessly for me.

Hello guys, a couple of things. Firstly the TP-Link over mains wiring extenders work really well – in my modern apartment I couldn’t get any WiFi signal upstairs – bought these with the WiFi option on the remote one and Voila – 5 bars!!
Secondly can someone tell me how to change the primary DNS server for the router – I have purchased a service called Smart DNS from a company called Overplay (US based $4.99 per month) which is supposed to let me access my Netflix and BBC iPlayer accounts from Spain using my PC or iPad or PS3 and they say changing the router default DNS server will mean all equipment aceesing it will look like its in UK so I’m not wating my money when I’m not in UK.
Hope somebody knows how!!
Thanks a lot in anticipation.
JOhn
Hi John,
I can not confirm this 100% as I don’t have this router available at the moment but you should be able to change DNS on “Local Network”-page.
– First access your router entering http://192.168.1.1:8000 in address bar of your browser. ID and password are both by default “1234”.
– Click “Setup” and then on left side “Local Network” and there should be some fields where you can add DNS-server address you’ve received from Overplay.
– After adding DNS server addresses just click “Ok/Apply” below and remember to reboot the device if it doesn’t do it automatically. You can reboot the device on “Maintenance -> System settings”
***
Please, let us know how Overplay works as I’m sure there others that are interested as well to access BBC and other UK stream services. Write here on comments or drop me a line on info@adslinspain.com.
Sam
Did you manage to change the DNS as I am wanting to do the same thing with SmartDNS. Would love to know the steps you took to gain access as 192.168.1.1:8000 didnt seem to work. It seemed to only ask for a password. Tried 1234 nothing happened. Thanks
Hi,
Yes I followed SAMs instructions – I had to connect the router physically to my laptop rather than rely on wireless connection (just used a normal network cable) and then the /8000 gave me the full access.
I had changed the password previously (and forgot it!) so had to reset it if memory serves – sorry but I can’t remember exactly how. I am going to the apt in a few weeks – to try to set up remote access to a Mac mini I’m going to use for media serving so if you still can’t get access pm me and I will be getting access that way again as I need to see if Port Forwarding works so I can use No-IP to simulate a fixed IP for the ASL.
Does anyone on here know how to do that?
Cheers
John
I have downloaded the software from moviestar so that I can print via the rear USB port on my router. The app does not install, hanging after about 2/3 of the progress bar. I have tried it a few times and redownloaded the file. I also tried it in compatibility mode. No joy! I am running windows 7/SP1 on an acer laptop
I am trying to connect my Mac to my printer connected to the USB port on my router (ASL 26555). I have downloaded the software for my 2 PCs and have them both connected (win XP & win 7). However, there is no download for a mac, only a setup guide. I have followed this to the letter, but no luck. The PCs both show the printer on a standard TCP/IP port at the same address as the router.but when I set up the mac using the router address, it does not see the printer! Any ideas?
Trying to connect my Asus N56u as need greater distance and signal strengh.
Any ideas how to put the Amper into “Bridge Mode” ?
Hi,
There’s at least an option for “Bridge mode” on “Wan Settings”.
Setup > Internet Setup
Have you tried that?
Hello, is there a way to easily disable wifi on my Movistar modem when I’m connected to it? My computer is always plugged into the modem, so I don’t need the wireless option. Is there an easy way to turn it on and off when I want to? Thank you.
Hi MasZ,
just press the Wifi-button behind the router for a few seconds and it should disable the Wifi-connection.

I have Moviestar broadband (ADSL)
I can not send mail from my IOL.IE account.
What is the Moviestar outgoing mail setting?
Hi Larry,
you have to use your email service providers SMTP-server (outgoing mail). With Movistar you have to registrate an email account to use their SMTP-server. It’s not possible to use it otherwise.
Regards,
Sam
Many thanks made changing our password to something usable easy.
Martin, you’re welcome.

I have the asl-26555 – any idea of how many dbi the Wireless is sending?
I have looked into Alphanetworks homepage but could not find any specification.
Could you tell me does WiFi use up you monthly data or is it free data. when people come over from England I try not to let them stream on say you tube as I think it is using my monthly data. Nobody seems to be able to give me definite information.
Hi Carol – whether the device is connected via WiFi or Ethernet cable, anything you do when connected to the internet (so browsing, downloading, Skyping or sending e-mails etc) uses data so will be eating into your allowance – its hard to be prescriptive about how much each uses – so an e-mail with lots of photos uses lots more than a simple text one. You’re probably best to allow people to use the services and just check your bill to see the effect. Someone on the forum will probably know of a programme to monitor usage – there are lots around but I don’t use one so can’t comment!!
Best
Hello Carol and John,
if you have a broadband (ADSL) connection, there shouldn’t be any data restrictions how much you can use it during one month.
Some British internet providers have data restrictions but in Spain it’s a different story. So you shouldn’t have to worry.
However, if you have a mobile broadband (3G/4G) connection then it’s probable that there’s 2/5/10/else Gb amount of data to be used in 30 days. But this you have to check with your provider.
***
I’m just writing this because a “Wifi-connection” could mean:
– an ADSL connection with Wifi-router,
– a mobile broadband connection (as there are no cables)
– or even “some kind of antenna attached to the wall”-type of connection.
Where can I find the Firmware Update
Hi Clifford,
you probably won’t find the latest firmware anywhere as it seems Movistar or Alpha Networks won’t release publicly any firmwares for this modem.
However, you should be able to update the latest firmware by resetting the device. Use needle or some other sharp object and hold the reset button down for 5-10 seconds. Modem should download the latest firmware after the reset.
DO NOT switch off the device during the update process as this might damage the modem.
Thank for your help not sure what my package is as I got a friend to sort in Spanish but thanks for your comments
Carol
Hi
We have Movistar wi if but our laptops cannot connect to the wifi. It says the password is a mismatch.can you please help
Update on accessing Netflix, BBC iPlayer, 4OD etc.
I said a while ago I would report on the use of Smart DNS – I subscribed earlier in the year and now have the DNS Server addresses in the router so any device connecting to the internet through it appears to be in the UK – the thing about it is that it just works. I haven’t tried it with every streaming service but have found only 1 which was a problem for the system – Catch Up TV on the iPad – I spoke via e-mail to the (very helpful) tech support people and apparently as they find these issues they try to address them so it may not be a permanent block. I haven’t tried again as I have enough stuff to watch!
The service is US$4.99 a month with no contract beyond the current month so if it isn’t right for you you simply can it.
Now that the Sky satellite changeover has taken place and we have lost lots of the channels this service is just the ticket for my watching habits – I suggest you try it out.
If you want to give me a “leg up” you can sign up via Overplay’s affiliate system – which costs you the same but generates a small discount from my monthly subs at this link http://www.overplay.net/#a_aid=Johnnymag
However you can sign up anyway at the main site http://www.overplay.net.
I recommend you try it anyway – please report back on your experience as mine may not be representative!
Happy Watching!!
John
I came across an issue recently with C4 in UK.
They check the timezone of the connecting PC and reject connection if it isn’t UK !
I am trying to access servers in the US using RDP. Does anyone know what i need to do to allow this to work?
can’t accsess to 192.168.1.1:8000
The server at 192.168.1.1 is taking too long to respond.
Hi, have you tried to reset the device? If it’s temporarily blocked.

I didn’t see a reply to Davies question on a guest account. Is it possible to have two wifi names on this router. Ie one for public wifi and one lets say for the business two different passwords?
Hi Neil,
I have to check this. I ‘m pretty sure there is this possibility to enable a guest wifi-account with a different security key/password but have to confirm this.
– Sam
Thank you Sam I would appreciate it. I am looking at the manual but can’t seem to find anything
movifresh also have an English manual for the HomeStation
Anything on the guest wifi account as yet? Can’t seem to find anything myself.
I am trying to use this router instead of my current router with was supplied by Orange which is useless.

Hello
I do have movistar adsl router in my apartament. It was ok till this December, in december speed goes down to: download 0,05-0,15 Mbps and upload 0,59 Mbps. Called them, the answer was that the speed is steel the same. Don’t know what to do, before use to watch internet TV, now barely downloading my mail.
And whatever I do, the left sign of internet remains RED
HELP
Does anybody know if this router is IPv6 capable, I am trying to set up a home station on my 2 computers running Windows 7 and this is the only point outstanding?
movistar amper asl-26555 conone samarche avec 3g merci
Hi,
I have connected a hard drive to my movistar router and i can see it in homestation admin area, to gain access to it the system offers me to download clicktoopne.dmg, when i do so it mounts as a new drive on my mac but when i try to click it it says “You can’t open the application “ClickToOpenUSB.app” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.”
Anyone had this problem?
JUST BOUGHT A NEW IPAD -APPLE MGJ12 IPAD MINI 3 WI.FI
FROM MEDIA MART IN ELCHE,THEY TOLD ME IF I ALREADY HAVE A COMPUTER WITH A WIRELESS ROUTER MOVISTAR IT IS EASY TO SET UP PERHAPES YOU CAN HELP ME,
I START UP MY IPAD , GO INTO SETTINGS THEN TO WIRELESS ,THEN TO THE RIGHT WIRELESS WHICH I GIVE THE
NAME AS WLAN-72E9
WPA
PASSWORD I FIND ONTHE BACK OF MY MOVISTAR UNDER CLAVE 1
TYPE ALLIN CORRECTELY BUT WHY DOES IT NOT WORK
I am trying to get access to my router via the technique above as I don’t know the router’s password. I have read in the Movistar manual that I can reset it back to 1234 by using the “reset” button on the back of the router, but when I do, the error message says the password is still not correct.
Any advice?
Hi Ian,
if the modem is reseted correctly then 1234 is the password. Do you have Movistar Imagenio-service that allows you to see tv channels?
– Sam
Its 12341234 now
Hi there
Trying to connect a printer wirelessly. Tried via WPS, but every time I press the WPS button on the roter, it urns the wifi off!
So now trying to configure manually.
Keeps asking for us to connect to HomeStation and then asking for a password.
Says it’s on the sticker on the back of the router.
1234 doesn’t work, neither does 12341234
Can anyone help as to what the password looks like?
Thanks in advance!
Wendy
Hi Wendy,
Wifi password and modem access id/password are different things.
On back of the router there should be a sticker and on the sticker it says CLAVE and after that there’s letters and numbers combined. This is your Wifi-password.
– Sam
this router has the option for a 3G dongle backup, just in case the Internet connection fails. The configuration looks quite simple. I thought I’d check it out at the Movistar shop and the girl kindly rang a technician who said……….Movistar has not configured the settings to run on 3G the routers not compatible with 3G dongles.
The girl kept saying “well that’s what he says” but didn’t seem to convinced by the technician? Does anybody have the answer?
Neil
Hello… I have this router currently setup but it does not cover my entire house. I also have a second, identical router. It seems to me that I should be able to use this second router as an access point/ extender etc in order to boost throughout the rest of my home. I am unable to find any option for his however. Could anyone point me in the right direction before I go waste money on buying more equipment? Thank you.
Hi Mark,
and thanks for your comment. The most important thing is to disable DHCP and change the IP address of your 2nd router.
By default the ip address is 192.168.1.1 but you can change it to 192.168.1.254. Otherwise it will mess up your network as there are 2 devices sending IP address to other devices etc.
You can attach the cable from the 1st router to any of the ports behind the device. That should do it.
– Sam
Thank you Sam… By doing this will it automatically make the second router act as a repeater?
Hi Mark,
basically yes. This modem-router has no option to change it to work as a repeater as for example an access point would have. You can only achieve this “manually” disabling the DHCP and changing the IP address of the device to something else than the default (192.168.1.1).
– Sam
Hi guys;
Can’t see it if it’s mentioned above. This is a modem and a router, I’m guessing? (looking to get MS internet – it seems like one of the better options).
Do MS need you to use this particular router-modem, or can you happily plug in your own? I’m looking for VPN availability, but already have a decent router available with the settings and such already there (dynDNS and wan/lan ports configured for my devices).
Hi Tom,
you can use your own modem.
You just have to configurate your modem to work with Movistar:
Protocol: PPPoE – LLC/SNAP
VPI/VCI: 8/32
ID: adslppp@telefonicanetpa
Psw: adslppp

Hi, Is there any way that this router can be setup just as a WiFi Access Point for the far end of my apartment? I have changed service provider and have Fibre Optic service now, so I have this router spare, so I may as well use it.
I have gone into the underlying advanced setup. I have changed the routers web access IP to 192.168.1.200 so that it doesn’t clash with the main Fibre router. I have turned off DHCP and NAT. I have physically connected the WiFi AP to my network. When I connect to this WiFi Access Point it tells me that there is an Authentication problem. Can you tell me where I am going wrong please?
