Commission of Telecommunications Market has reported that Telefónica Movistar offers at the moment most of the fibre lines (FTTH). The Spanish company serves over 300 000 customers with fibre lines, 97% of total fibre connections in Spain.

The company plans to further expand its coverage in Bilbao, San Sebastian, Seville, Málaga, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Zaragoza and Valladolid. In addition, the operator aims to connect areas of Pamplona, Cordoba, Cadiz, Jaen and Telde (Canary Islands) to its fibre network. Although there are no exact dates or more details of these expansion plans.

Furthermore, the expansion will increase coverage in places like the metropolitan area of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It will increase the connectivity of the suburbs of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and large municipalities of the Community of Madrid, while in Catalonia, Telefónica aims to expand the network to the city of Gerona, along with some locations in Barcelona and Valencia.
