The Telecommunications Market Commission (CMT) has applied a cut of 14% in the wholesale price that Movistar charges its competitors for using its network. The decision has been received well with other operators, although, there’s still more margin to lower the prices.

Vodafone has indicated that this reduction is “on the right track.” Company also stressed that with earlier prices it was “very difficult” to be a competetive against Movistar Telefónica.

However, the national telecommunications regulator pointed out that when prices were fixed in 2009, connections speeds were ranging from 3 to 6 megabytes per second and now operators are offering 10 megabytes per second. As a result, the average cost per connection with alternative operators is higher.
